About this data

Figures come from World Bank Open Data (indicator SL.UEM.TOTL.ZS), an ILO modeled estimate: the International Labour Organization derives comparable unemployment rates for countries where direct labor-force surveys are irregular or missing.

Two caveats matter for Syria. Modeled estimates smooth over gaps in the underlying surveys, so year-to-year changes should be read cautiously. And a large share of Syrian employment is informal — people counted as employed may be underemployed or working outside any formal structure.

This page refreshes hourly. The ILO revises its model roughly twice a year.
